Sheryl Sandberg: Why we have too few women leaders?

Through the past years women have made significant progress towards equity in the work place, yet there are further gaps to be filled and obstacles to be overcome. The fact is that there is still insignificantly small number of females that are working on top leadership positions or are starting their entrepreneurial ventures. What are the reasons for this and how this important problem can be successfully tackled and solved once and for all?

During her impactful TED Talk on the important subject of why we have too few women leaders Sheryl Sandberg, who is the famous COO of Facebook, one of the most popular female leaders in tech and also an author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, examines and explains the main reasons why there are so few women on leading positions and empowers females of all ages and backgrounds to strive to reach their full potential.

By giving interesting examples from her own work experience, Sheryl Sandberg highlights two of the major reasons why women sometimes knowingly hold back themselves and the lack of strong self confidence and the fact that they are not reaching for opportunities as much as their male colleagues stand on the top of this list. Focusing on the root of the problem brings us half way to the solution of it, which is one of the main reasons why this talk is that important. It is inspiring, motivational and raises the awareness of an important issue.

“We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change.” ― Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
