The Importance of Raising Kids to be Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs can learn many things from children – kids have unlimited curiosity about the world, freedom to express and act on their bravest ideas without worrying what others will think, exceptional creativity, kids are social and easily make new connections, ask a lot of questions, are not afraid to fail, to move on and start over. We can learn from children, but do we do everything that we can to encourage them to become entrepreneurs?

To fit in is not that important

Children are raised to become doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers. There is nothing wrong about this only if there are also thought how to be entrepreneurs. Schools teach the children to fit in – pass the exam, graduate college and get an MBA, get prepared and well-trained for the corporate job. At school, we are thought how to work for someone else, rarely how to start, build and grow a company. Children should be thought how to think creatively and encouraged to be themselves. If you teach your children to fit in, you are limiting them to reveal their full potential.

Looking for opportunities to make money

From young age children should be thought to look for opportunities to do something that brings value to the people. During his emblematic TED Talk, Cameron Herold gives very interesting insights on the topic, sharing with the audience how he started to look for opportunities to make money from very young age, highlighting the importance of encouraging children to be entrepreneurs.

Encouraging children to concentrate on the things they are good at

Parents and teachers often encourage the choice of hiring a tutor for the children to help them get better at what they are not so good at. The better option is to discover what the talents and interests of the child are and to encourage the development of these talents. Children have different interests – some like to paint, some play sports, others are fascinated by computers and tech – discover what the children are good at and let them explore the endless opportunities that their talents will present.
