3 Questions Investors Ask Themselves While Listening to Your Pitch

Have you ever wondered what the investors you are pitching are thinking while watching your presentation? You are probably curious to know if they are interested and what their concerns are. It is difficult to figure out if you are doing a good job and if you are going in the right direction with your pitch. Investors may think many thoughts while listening to your pitch, but undoubtedly they ask themselves the following three questions.

How you are going to make money?

Investors care about your vision, ideas and the passion you have for your startup. But they really want to hear how you are planning to make money. Include in your investor pitch information about your business model and strategy that you are going to embrace if you really want to secure funding for your company. Otherwise you may get the attention of the audience as customers, not as investors. Making money is what they are in for, so make sure you use your pitching time to convince them that their investment will be justified.

Do you have what it takes?

Investors look for great ideas, which can turn to profitable businesses, but they also like to invest in the entrepreneurs. The investors look for people, who have the right skill set and the capabilities to turn the business plan into actual successful venture. Investors need to hear about your background and experience, about your expertise and previous projects that you’ve worked on to get the idea if you have what it takes to create, run and grow a startup. Present not only your business, present yourself as well.

How can I help?

This one may surprise you but it is one very important question, which angel investors ask themselves before they make the decision to invest in a startup. They are offering to the entrepreneurs much more than money – they offer connections, expertise, mentoring, advice and many opportunities. Angel investors rarely invest in companies that they can’t help much to accelerate. Make sure that you know who you are pitching in front of and highlight in your pitch why you think that your partnership will be successful. Emphasize on the difference they will make for the growth of your company and how all of you will benefit from the success of the business.
